ABOUT author / filmmaker Robert Hendrickson and “Death to Pigs
I guess you could say that for some time I led a double life. In public I was just another kid out of high school, not old enough to buy a beer, but in the early 1960's I was also a member of Area 51's technical team. For most involved, the "Article" seemed to be an advanced replacement for the U2 spy plane, but it didn't take me long to realize that a supersonic delivery system was being developed. But to deliver what? Because "the need to know" governed everything that was said, heard and witnessed, I relied upon my own reasoning for many answers. Like when President Carter cancelled the "stealth bomber" project, I was sure that a system for delivering nuclear devices was already flying in the skies above the earth.
So what does all that have to do with the Charles Manson Family and the Crime of the 20th Century and, more importantly, my new book "Death to Pigs"? Like so many things emerging after World War II “the area,” as we called it then, would cause the birth of a bizarre belief amongst many that alien beings were somehow connected to such a top secret program. Of course, looking back now, all that secrecy was bound to create at least some imaginary tales, but alien spaceships? So what caused such a belief? Or better yet, what causes any story concerning an unordinary incident to become the law of the case. Like the intrigue surrounding Area 51, it is usually what is not said, combined with what is first imagined, that eventually makes for the “truth” in the minds of the public. Thus, if we venture back in time to discover when, where and how the Prosecution came up with the Helter Skelter motive for the Tate / LaBianca massacres, a whole new perspective on the Crime of the 20th Century may be realized.
In 1963, an “Article” crashed in Utah. The military was quick to reach the scene, keep everyone at a distance, and the news media was told that an airplane went down. Had the top secret “truth” been realized then, the public’s perception of aliens visiting earth would likely have ended up completely different than it became for decades. Likewise, had the Prosecution not dwelled on the words Healter Skelter so much, but instead put more emphasis on the meaning of “Death to Pigs,” written in blood on a living room wall, the “true” story of the so-called Manson murders would have turned out different.
Of course, this can be said about almost any noteworthy historical event. If more emphasis was put on the “grassy knoll” versus the “book depository,” it could have led to the discovery that Oswald was not alone in causing the death of President Kennedy. If the public actually understood just how easy it was for a government agency like the CIA to hide or convolute the truth surrounding any important event, maybe the “truth” could have been more easily realized. If the public knew that Kennedy visited Area 51 shortly before he was assassinated, would anyone at least think that other clues may have also been kept secret. Like, what did he see and what was his reaction to what he witnessed? Bare in mind, he could not even discuss his findings with the vice president or any member of Congress. That’s how secret the Area 51 project(s) were and maybe still are.
So, are you the kind of person who thinks and questions outside of the box? Like, how come the Navy Seals (specially trained to extract persons alive) killed Osama Bin Laden, instead of saving him for his valuable “intelligence” information? Have you ever wondered why the U.S. government set aside the sacred Constitution in order to keep Charles Manson from representing himself at trial? Have you ever questioned the Prosecution’s Helter Skelter race war motive for the Sharon Tate massacre? And why did the defense team “rest” without even calling a witness? Have you questioned why President Bush lied about the existence of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq? Did you ever stop to think about why the bank would lend you $400,000 to buy a $300,000 house, especially when you could really only afford a $200,000 one?
Unfortunately, we are all played like strings on a fiddle, most of the time. To best illustrate my point, just look at the recent civil uprising in Egypt. The establishment’s “police” literally beat down the protestors, who only wanted to be free from a corrupt dictator. Then the dictator stepped down and the “people” welcomed the same “police” force that fought against them, to then rule over them. How do you figure that one out?
Because everything is related and relevant, I have prepared a book entitled “Death to Pigs” about my experience of filming the Charles Manson Family, from late 1969 through the summer of 1972. More specifically, the book reads like a textbook, a movie script and a novel. It contains the never before published word for word transcriptions of the interviews and conversations with actual key Manson Family members and significant others involved with the Crime / Trial of the 20th Century.
Maybe, just maybe, this is the book for you, and you are ready to start thinking outside of the box.
